Radio Presenters go Radio GaGa over Ratings

Over the last few months, our beloved radio presenters have been losing listeners at an alarming rate. Chris Evans, although generating a huge following when he took over the Radio 2 breakfast show has recently seen a huge decline as listeners opt for Radio 5 live and Radio 4.

Chris Moyles meanwhile is unhappy about his recent decline in ratings, his cheeky chappy flirty style is no longer pulling in the crowds it used to and his ratings have dropped by a whopping quarter of a million over two years.

Maybe Chris Evans was right when he declared that Chris Moyles was growing too old to be a radio one presenter? Evans clearly spoke from his own experience when in his early thirties he abused his position as a BBC presenter, often turning up with a hangover, or not at all. However, it’s clear from these mature comments, and the way he has reached out to Moyles that he has learned from his mistakes and hopes Moyles will too.

Yet, although he maybe nearly forty, presenting to an audience of twenty something’s, there is something quite Peter Pan like about Moyles. He has an infectious view on the world, and a daring outlook, often saying things others would only dream of.

However, it seems Chris Evans is receiving a slump too. For this we are quite baffled. Nothing wakes you up better in the morning than his cheery voice, his mantra, “Happy… (Insert day of the week) Everyone)! And the “How do you like your eggs?” song that infects us with an earworm all day long!

Whilst their ratings have been falling, however, Radio 4’s Today Show has seen a significant rise. With presenters such as John Humphries, and Evan Davies (of Dragon’s Den) they proclaim that their listeners aren’t all middle class, they’re just more intelligent.

Maybe this is the answer, with both Chris’ being comfortable in their presenting spots for a few years now, Moyles especially being the longest serving radio 1 DJ, their listeners are maturing, gaining wisdom and moving on.

Whatever the reason, if they are replaced, the new presenters will have huge boots to fill, and unless they’re already well known and loved by the public, ratings could drop even more!

Liam Sues Noel Over Cigarettes and Alcohol!

News is just breaking of a lawsuit Liam has raised against his former beloved brother and former band mate Noel Gallagher.

These two have always had a fractious relationship, yet in the past the bad publicity created followings unlike any other. This time it seems this is not a plot to promote, but a real bone fide bone of contention between the two.

Liam has come to a point where he can take no more, as Noel tells everyone who’ll listen that Liam cancelled a gig and disappointed millions of fans due to a self-inflicted hangover, Liam takes the reins and fights back – with anger!

This petty squabble has now escalated into a full blown lawsuit as Liam serves court papers to brother Noel over libel.

I bet Sunday lunch at mum’s house is a riot!

Liam, becoming more pensive as the years slide away, has realised that this rumour pushes fans away rather than pulling them in. Now fronting Beadyeye, Liam needs to keep the loyalty of his fans and as the statement threatens to cause problems with festival organisers, it seems Liam has decided to grow up, roll with it and realise which side his bread is buttered!

Liam claims the cancellation was due to laryngitis rather than a hangover, a more forgivable condition of the not so self-inflicted kind, and he seems keen to point out how upset he was for not being able to perform to thousands of adoring Oasites!

In a statement to the Sun, Liam speaks out, and says, “I have taken legal action against Noel Gallagher for statements he made claiming Oasis pulled out of the 2009 V Festival Chelmsford gig because I had a hangover. That is a lie and I want Oasis fans and others who were at V to know the truth. I was gutted when I couldn't play the gig because I didn't want to let the fans down. I am used to being called all sorts of things by Noel and I have in the past said things about him. But what Noel has alleged this time went way beyond rock-and-roll banter and questioned my professionalism. I tried to resolve this amicably but have been left with no choice but legal action. All I want is an apology”

So it seems the withdrawal was not due to cigarettes and alcohol after all! You go let it out Liam! Although Noel is yet to respond to the lawsuit it seems he should stop crying his heart out, and learn to keep it zipped.

What’s the bet that Liam always got the best presents at Christmas, and all this is just over a flashier Tonka truck?

Bye Bye Size Zero

As the rumours circle of a Bridget Jones 3 new generations of 30 something single women flock to the depth of their wardrobes to liberate their big knickers from hiding! After a decade of size zero celebs it’s with warmth and wistfulness that we welcome back our favourite flabby femme fatale.

As much as Elvis is to blame for the millions of skinny and stout lookalikes, Rene Zellweger as Bridget encourages single women everywhere to accept their size and embrace their love handles when in the quest for a dreamboat such as Colin Firth.

However, although the extra pounds bring Bridget into the epicentre of our sentiments, Rene is suffering anxiety outbreaks about carrying the added weight.

Reported by the Daily Mail, she said, “I had a panic attack with all the specialists talking about how bad this is for you long-term, putting on that much weight in short periods of time”.

She’s considering wearing a fat suit for the next role, which may tie in well if Colin Firth is to be believed with his speculation,

“I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can't have children, I think that's the way it goes on. So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant) for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she's left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?” he said.

It’s a shame, however, that Rene doesn’t feel comfortable as our girl next door, and as the singleton we all adore, as lollipop heads in Hollywood are ten to the dozen, and it’s surely this embracing of curves that make celebrities stand out from the crowd, and transforms them into someone we can not only relate to but empathize with too. Marilyn Monroe was a classic beauty that made no apologies for her weight or personality and is still revered as one of the sexiest women of all time, despite being a voluptuous size 16.

It goes to show that in the world of dating and relationships, nothing is sexier than confidence and accepting yourself for who you truly are. So we urge you Rene, put on those extra pounds and keep them on, then come here and give us a huge Packtypes cuddle!
